Trent Boultinghouse is running to represent Ward 1 on the Mission City Council. He strongly believes in the power of local government to improve the lives of its citizens. As a city council member, Trent plans to focus on investing in public spaces, promoting sustainability through better sidewalks and bike lanes and attracting economic development that honors the spirit of the community. Trent grew up on a family farm in rural southeast Kansas. The son of educators, he participated in 4-H and FFA at Girard High School before receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas. After graduation, he accepted a position at the Pentagon, working on policy directives for the Undersecretary of Acquisitions, Technology, and Logistics. Trent left the Pentagon to pursue his master’s degree at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, where he studied governmental programs to reduce poverty. With Kansas never far from mind, Trent returned to his home state upon graduating. He worked at Cerner before accepting a data analyst position with Epiq Global, Inc., in Kansas City, Kan. He is married to Helen Mubarak Boultinghouse, digital marketing manager at Grundfos in Lenexa, Kan.
